Required Immunizations for Elon ¾Ã¾ÃÈÈ

As part of ¾Ã¾ÃÈÈ’s commitment to student health and safety—and in compliance with the North Carolina Department of Health and Human Services ()- all new/readmitted students must submit documentation of required immunizations before starting classes. This includes students entering Elon in summer, fall, winter, or spring terms.

Failure to comply with these requirements will result in a registration hold and potential removal from class after the first 30 days of the term.

We strongly recommend submitting your records early to allow time for processing and any necessary follow-up. Please allow seven (7) days for initial review of records.

Required Immunizations

All students must submit official documentation of the following per NCDHHS:

  • DTP (Diphtheria, Tetanus, Pertussis) vaccines
  • 1 Tdap booster (within the last 10 years)
  • 3 Polio vaccines (not required if over age 18)
  • 2 MMR (Measles, Mumps, Rubella) vaccines
  • 3 Hepatitis B vaccines (or 2 doses of the brand of )
  • 1 Meningococcal vaccine (one meningococcal ACWY or conjugate vaccine – required after age 16). Accepted brands are Menveo® and MenQuadfi®, Menactra® (older vaccine, discontinued in 2022), PENMENVYâ„¢ and the pentavalent vaccine Penbrayaâ„¢. Meningococcal B vaccines such as Trumenba and Bexsero are not accepted as substitutes for the meningococcal ACWY vaccine required for school or college entry in North Carolina which are specifically Serogroup B (MenB) vaccines.
  • 2 Varicella (Anyone born before April 1, 2001, is not required to get the varicella vaccine)

Note: You must also complete the Tuberculosis screening questions on the form and follow recommendations.

How to Submit Your Records

  1. Complete enrollment in process using your elon.edu e-mail
  2. Log into the Immunization
  3. Upload a copy of your official immunization record (signed by a provider).
  4. Complete the required online immunization form in the portal.
  5. Check your  regularly for status updates or additional instructions. Once ¾Ã¾ÃÈÈs have met all immunization compliance requirements, their Acorn Account will display a green checkmark. Please allow 48 hours for the Acorn account to reflect compliance.

Recommended Vaccines

In addition to the required immunizations, ¾Ã¾ÃÈÈ strongly encourages all students to receive the following vaccines to protect their health and the well-being of the campus community:

  • Seasonal Influenza (Flu) Vaccine – administered annually
  • COVID-19 Vaccine – including boosters as recommended by the

The university will provide information about on-campus flu vaccine clinics during the fall semester. ¾Ã¾ÃÈÈ are encouraged to stay up to date with CDC guidance on vaccinations for college-age populations.

Medical or Religious Exemptions

Elon recognizes valid medical or religious exemptions as allowed by NCDHHS. To apply for an exemption:

  • Download the appropriate form from the Immunization Compliance Verification Portal.
  • Submit completed documentation before the deadline for your entry term.
