Purpose

¾Ã¾ÃÈÈ Alamance summer internship program was launched in the summer of 2021 to provide a mutually beneficial opportunity for local businesses, non-profit organizations and government entities who have a need for talented interns within their workforce to host ¾Ã¾ÃÈÈ students who wish to gain valuable work experience within the local community.

¾Ã¾ÃÈÈ is, once again, offering this paid summer internship program in Alamance County for summer 2026.

Program Requirements

Interested Partners must:

  • submit a and be accepted into the ¾Ã¾ÃÈÈ Alamance program
  • be located and have an office location, at which the intern will work, within Alamance County or Gibsonville. The program requires that interns report to a brick-and-mortar location serving fully as a business operations facility owned/rented by the company/organization.  The building can not be used as a personal residence.
  • an ¾Ã¾ÃÈÈ department can not be the hosting organization.
  • be a nonprofit, government entity, or established business with full-time, professional staff
  • provide an 8-week internship experience starting June 1-July 31,2026 with 30 hours of work per week
  • provide a clear, learning-centered position description that provides educational opportunities as well as project-based work that contributes to the organization in a meaningful way.  Interns cannot be engaged in retail sales, restaurant sales, cooking, serving food, multi-level marketing, or engaging personal sales prospecting.
  • have the capacity to successfully host an intern including: a designated supervisor who is a full-time professional in the field and will take an active role in the day-to-day work of the student intern, an appropriate workspace, necessary equipment and materials for the student intern
  • have a clearly articulated commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion, engagement in strategies to become more inclusive as an organization, and a commitment to support an intern in transformational, multicultural leadership
  • support the student intern’s involvement in a weekly, professional development training program by allowing them to leave early if needed to accommodate for travel time

 


Application Process and Timeline

Any interested Alamance County business, non-profit organization, or government entity is invited to submit a for summer 2026. If you participated in summer 2025, you are still required to submit a new program application for summer 2026. Your application must include a position description (see example).

Winter Recruitment Timeline for Employer Partners:

Now-January 31, 2026:  Submit .  Approval and posting of position is usually completed within 2 weeks of receiving the employer form.

January-February 28, 2026:  Review applications, schedule and conduct interviews, and make offers.  Application documents for positions are automatically sent to the contact’s email address upon submissions.

On or before March 9, 2026:  We encourage you to make an offer by this date in order to provide time for the student to make a decision to meet offer deadline.

On or before March 20, 2026: Notify Nancy Carpenter of offer through email.

June 1, 2026:  ¾Ã¾ÃÈÈ Alamance Kick-Off Breakfast at Elon.  Details forth coming.
