This live, online certificate program is designed for professionals who want to confidently integrate AI tools into their everyday work. Through interactive modules, you’ll progress from AI fundamentals and ethics to advanced automation and a personalized Capstone project—all guided by expert Elon faculty in a supportive, relationship-centered environment.

Cost: $1,100 ($880 with 20% discount for Elon Alumni)

What You’ll Learn

Each module builds practical AI skills that you can apply immediately in your career.

Module 1: AI Introductions and AI Ethics
Understand AI fundamentals, generative AI, and ethical frameworks for responsible use. Get hands-on practice applying AI concepts to your own field.

Module 2: AI Prompt Engineering
Learn to design effective AI prompts that drive useful, accurate results. Build a library of prompts and discover techniques to streamline your daily workflow.

Module 3: AI Lab and AI Automation
This experiential module provides time for participants to practice learned skills and explore advanced automation strategies. Participants will develop a relevant AI solution.

Capstone
The course culminates in a capstone presentation where participants demonstrate their AI solutions such as a chatbot, automation, or AI-enhanced process, showcasing both technical knowledge and the ability to solve meaningful professional challenges.

Who is this program designed for?

The AI Certificate for Professionals is designed for professionals who want to understand and apply AI in their careers—no technical background required. Participants from all fields are encouraged to participate.

Is there an application process?

No application required—registration is open to all adult learners on a first-come, first-served basis.

How is the program delivered?

All sessions are live and online, with interactive activities and breakout discussions. You’ll also have access to digital resources, recordings, and templates in Elon’s learning platform.

What if I can’t attend live and is there an attendance policy?

The benefit of this certificate is the live interaction with faculty and participants. To earn the certificate, participants must attend at least 70% of each module and complete all assigned work. Participants who miss more than 30% of any module or fail to submit required assignments will not be eligible for certification. Meeting all program requirements, including attendance and assignment completion, is the sole responsibility of the participant. Elon NEXT policies and standards apply to all learners.

Do ¾Ã¾ÃÈÈ alumni receive a discount?

Yes! Elon alumni receive 20% off the certificate. Make sure to use code ‘alumni20’ when registering.

Will I earn academic credit?

This is a non-credit-bearing professional certificate, focused on career development. Graduates receive a digital and physical certificate that can be shared on LinkedIn or a résumé.

Is this program graded?

There are no traditional grades. Participants complete hands-on projects and a Capstone project, receiving faculty feedback and a certificate upon successful completion.

Can my employer cover the cost?

Yes. Many organizations support professional development. This guide provides key details to help you make the case and highlight the program’s value to your organization/supervisor.

What is the registration deadline and is there a waiting list?

Registration closes when the cohort fills or at least three days before class begins, whichever comes first. If registration capacity is met, you can register to be on a waiting list, and seats will be offered as available, on a first-come, first-served basis.

What is the refund or transfer policy?

  • You can receive a full refund if requested at least one month prior to the first class date, or later if your seat is filled from the waitlist.
  • You can receive a 50% refund if your seat isn’t filled by the waitlist and you request a refund at least one month prior to the first class date or if you request a refund after one month prior and before one week before the first class date.
  • No refunds or transfers less than one week before the first class date.
  • Seat transfers to a colleague are allowed up to one week prior to the first class date.
  • If you cannot finish the course, you may continue the course within one year or when it’s next offered.
  • All refund or transfer requests must be emailed to next@elon.edu.

How can I showcase this certificate on LinkedIn or my résumé?

Following completion, you’ll receive a physical certificate and a digital certificate. You can easily share the digital certificate on your LinkedIn profile and include it in your professional bio or résumé.
