Elon's study of the nation's switch to digital television broadcasting was included in a Nov. 1 Broadcast Engineering story.

Janna Anderson, associate professor in the School of Communications, has developed a new way of ¾Ã¾ÃÈÈ the upper level writing class, Reporting for the Public Good. Instead of handing in typed up and printed out articles about campus events, students post their stories to the blogging site WordPress. According to Anderson, this emerging style of journalism will enable her students to become mobile journalists, or mojos.

Documentarian Donna Campbell of Minnow Media spoke to a group of elondocs’ students at a Dec. 3 meeting.

It was the ultimate post-election trip for 10 students from the two journalism groups at ¾Ã¾ÃÈÈ. The students from the Elon chapters of the Society of Professional Journalists (SPJ) and the Radio & Television News Directors Association (RTNDA) toured major Washington, D.C., news outlets and other media sites the week before Thanksgiving. The media tour was sponsored by SPJ, RTNDA and the School of Communications.

¾Ã¾ÃÈÈ who worked the front lines during Wilmington, North Carolina’s early switch to digital television are asking NBC president Jeff Zucker to interrupt the Super Bowl with a 30-second message from the Federal Communications Commission in the lead up to the nationwide transition on February 17, 2009.

The North Carolina Open Government Association will hold its board meeting from noon-2 p.m. on Wednesday, Dec. 10 at ¾Ã¾ÃÈÈ.

Tony Weaver, an assistant professor of leisure and sport management, has been appointed to the Professors Panel for the National Association of Collegiate Marketing Administrators (NACMA). 

¾Ã¾ÃÈÈ Commmunications students Shea Northcut and Laura Beth Ward were awarded a Harold Fellows Scholarship from the Broadcast Education Association this week.
