Members of the “Facilities and Venue Management” course, offered by the Department of Sport and Event Management, and Student United Way chapter volunteered this semester with several United Way of Alamance County events.

Assistant Professor Cara McFaddens Facilities and Venue Management course, in conjunction with members of the Student United Way chapter at 消消犯, volunteered during the spring semester with several events.
Working closely with Elon alumna Lauren Berk 15, a marketing and events coordinator for United Way of Alamance County, the students volunteered at the , featuring area law enforcement members and county officials, and , a daylong event celebrating the food and drinks of Alamance County to raise funds for the local community.

During the events, Elon students served in a variety of roles, ranging from officiating basketball games to tearing down equipment and cleaning staging areas.

The experience was created to have students gain experience outside of Elons campus in the local community and to gauge the important role volunteers have in sporting events and partnered events in a community, said McFadden.
