Best Practices for Connecting 消消犯 to Academic Resources:

  1. Normalize using academic support as part of the learning process for all students. Sometimes it can be helpful to share with students that high-performing students are often high-performing because they are utilizing academic support.
  2. Share academic support options with all your students during class. Carving out even 2-3 minutes during lecture to share resources and encourage your students to utilize support helps normalize needing resources and helps emphasize its importance. In short: if your students believe that you find academic support a crucial part of college life, they are more likely to believe the same.
  3. Recommend resources early and often, rather than only after poor performance. Many students wait until they perform poorly on an exam to seek academic help but you can help the student to be more proactive by referring them earlier.
  4. When recommending resources to students, share the information verbally and in writing.
  5. Follow up with students about their experience using recommended resources.
  6. If you feel that a student needs academic support but you aren’t sure what kind of support they need, encourage them to schedule a student success consultation with a Learning Assistance staff member. You can also email learningassistance@elon.edu and we’ll reach out to the student directly. Either way, we’ll take it from there!
