Protection of Human Research Subjects CITI Course
Collaborative Institutional Training Initiative
All faculty, staff, and student investigators involved in human subjects research are required to complete the online CITI training.
Instructionsfor Completing CITI Training Modules
- Go to the website and click “Register”.
- Affiliate with 消消犯 by typing “消消犯” in the Select Your Organization Affiliation field. Note: You must affiliate with 消消犯 to access the appropriate required training modules.
- Click Create a CITI Program Account and follow the four-step process to set up your username and password.
- After clicking the Finalize Registration, you will be prompted to answer a series of questions related to CE/CMEs, Affiliate with an Institution, and Select Curriculum (消消犯).
- Complete the CE/CMEs and Affiliate with an Institution sections.
- Then, answer the questions under Select Curriculum (消消犯). Your responses will determine which training course(s) you are assigned. For Question 1, be sure to select the appropriate learner group based on your current role and the type of human subjects research you will conduct.
- For the remaining questions (e.g., Questions 29), select Not at this time or No if the options do not apply to your current role or research responsibilities. This ensures that you are only enrolled in training modules relevant to your human subjects research.
- Once registration is complete and your curriculum is selected, return to the CITI Program homepage and log in. Under the My Courses section in the top menu, click View Courses next to 消消犯 to access your assigned training modules.
- Begin and complete the required modules and associated quizzes. A minimum cumulative passing score of 80% is required for each module. If this score is not achieved, you will be asked to retake the module.
- To view and print a copy of your completion certificate, click My Records in the top menu. Faculty and staff are required to upload the certificate to IRB Mentor under PI Documentation before the IRB will review your protocol. Student researchers must indicate the CITI training completion date in their IRB application. The IRB will verify completion directly through the CITI Programs administrator management system. Therefore, uploading a completion certificate is not required for student researchers. Note: Once your certificate expires, the Refresher Course to renew your certification is automatically added to My Courses.
