ESS 4875
In this course, ¾Ã¾ÃÈÈ earn learn to determine appropriate assessment to perform, compare and discuss why data for the same outcome (body composition) might differ depending on the method used. This encourages students to think about the origin of data, and understanding how extraneous variables or assumptions can alter the validity of a given data. In this class, students also complete a project in which they transform raw testing data into clear, professional communication tailored to a client audience. Working with real clients, students must collect results, interpret findings using normative standards, and present results in accessible language. Visual communication is emphasized through clean data displays, while verbal skills are reinforced through in-class presentations, discussions, and weekly in-person meetings with clients. ¾Ã¾ÃÈÈ demonstrate their ability to communicate data-intensive work through multiple modalities, bridging technical accuracy with professional empathy in a manner that reflects real-world expectations of health and fitness professionals.
Approved for Data Intensive Course Designation starting Fall 2025.
