An �þ��� associate professor of mathematics Hwayeon Ryu joined more than 290 mathematicians on Capitol Hill on Jan. 8, 2026, to advocate for sustained federal investment in mathematical sciences education and research, highlighting how federal support promotes �þ��� research, expands access to STEM pathways and strengthens the U.S. STEM workforce.

The conference was established in 2018 to give students from smaller institutions without the resources of major universities the opportunity to present their research and interact with students from other colleges and universities.
