President Connie Ledoux Book says Elon will take several steps following a political caravan that drove through campus on Sept. 19, 2020

President Connie Ledoux Book reflects on the pandemic and finding inspiration in the individual journeys of members of the Elon community and the university's communal sense of purpose.

President Connie Ledoux Book was joined by leaders from Furman University, Elizabeth City State University, the James G. Martin Center for Academic Renewal and the South Carolina Commission on Higher Education to talk about the financial fallout from COVID-19.

During her Opening Day address to faculty and staff, President Connie Ledoux Book detailed how new approaches to ¾Ã¾ÃÈÈ, learning, health and safety have put Elon on a firm footing heading into fall semester.

This summer, the university’s innovative E Company program leveraged the time and talents of Elon students to meet the needs of local K-12 students as well as to assist with preparations for fall semester.

In his new role, Williams will serve as the university’s chief diversity officer and report to President Connie Ledoux Book.

The steps announced Wednesday, July 8, were the first in an agenda to create real change and to put human dignity and diversity at the core of the university community.

The naming effort began more than a year ago and was approved by the Board of Trustees in April. Ratliff, a native of Elon, served the university for more than three decades as a dedicated staff member and consistent mentor to students.
