Here's a look at where some of the 2023 School of Communications graduates are headed now that they're �þ��� alumni.

The assistant professor of sport management and media analytics major shared their collaborative research examining sports betting – specifically season win totals in college football.

The assistant professor of communication design coauthored a new paper titled “Is this AI trained on Credible Data? The Effects of Labeling Quality and Performance Bias on User Trust.”

Twenty-eight students were recognized at the end-of-the-year celebration, including the inaugural recipient of the Christopher Edwards II ’18 Award for Sports Journalism, honoring a graduating senior who has established a record of academic success and demonstrated mastery within sports journalism.

The associate professor of sport management and Communications Fellow co-presented “The Sports Media Lab: Undergraduate Research as a High-Impact Educational Practice” at the 2023 Summit on Communication and Sport.

During its annual awards celebration, hosted April 20 in Turner Theatre, the School of Communications acknowledged the outstanding contributions of several faculty and staff members, and bid farewell to Glenn Scott and Jeff James.

During the April 4 event, students from the School of Communications and the Martha and Spencer Love School of Business asked questions regarding Winkler’s own career, the rise and growth of Bloomberg News, and the future of the country’s banking industry.

The student-run news organization was recognized widely in the Society of Professional Journalists Region 2 Mark of Excellence Awards, earning first place in nine categories.

In conjunction with the Student Professional Development Center, the School of Communications hosted the Communications and Sport Management Meet and Greet on March 28, attracting more than 200 students and 20 employers representing a variety of communications-related industries.

The School of Communications hosted its first-ever trivia contest for members of the Communications Fellows program, testing the students’ knowledge of the Tar Heel state, pop culture and other fun facts.
