The Hon. Sarah Neely Lanier L’10 took an oath of office this week as she ascends to the same North Carolina District Court bench once occupied by her father.

Winter Term 2019 will offer students a broad array of opportunities to explore these themes throughout the next month.

Service opportunities, gatherings and other special programs at Elon during January will commemorate the life and work of the late civil rights leader. 

Professor Henry Gabriel will continue his service to an intergovernmental organization based in Rome that aims to modernize and coordinate international commercial law.

Tickets to see Loretta Lynch, the first African-American woman to serve as Attorney General of the United States and an accomplished former federal prosecutor, go on sale starting February 7, 2019.

Encouraged to “be brave for who you will become,” African-American students in Elon Law’s Class of 2018 were celebrated by family, friends, faculty and staff in a kente-donning program preceding Commencement.

The David Gergen Award for Leadership & Professionalism, bestowed each year at ¾Ã¾ÃÈÈ School of Law’s Commencement, recognizes one student in the graduating class who embodies the highest levels of selfless leadership and service.

Graduates in Elon Law’s Class of 2018 were recognized with school and professional honors for advocacy, legal writing and research, academic excellence, and excellence in service.

¾Ã¾ÃÈÈ School of Law conferred 102 degrees in a Commencement ceremony that featured an address by North Carolina Attorney General Josh Stein, who reminded graduates of their duty to seek justice and to protect the rule of law in troubling times.

Josh Stein, the state of North Carolina's top attorney, will address graduates in the Class of 2018 in a December 15 program inside ¾Ã¾ÃÈÈ's Alumni Gym.
