Registration is open for attorneys and law students who wish to attend a symposium on the death penalty scheduled for November 21, 2008, at the �þ��� School of Law in downtown Greensboro. 5.75 CLE credits are pending approval from the North Carolina State Bar.

The Women’s Law Association at the �þ��� School of Law helped educate the Greensboro community last month about the effects of, and ways to prevent, domestic violence in North Carolina with its three-day Domestic Violence Awareness Campaign.

Second-year law students competed this week in the Elon Law Intramural Moot Court Competition, which culminated Wednesday night when teammates Craig Turner and Blair Vocci claimed the top prize in an inaugural contest sponsored by the Moot Court Board.

Scott Gaylord, an associate professor of law, was quoted in the Nov. 10, 2008, edition of North Carolina Lawyers Weekly, which published an article that detailed a research report Gaylord co-authored this fall for the Federalist Society.

The Elon Law ACLU & the Black Law �þ��� Association will be co-sponsoring Elon Law's first Racial Justice Week starting Monday, November 10, with two speakers and a movie scheduled through the week.

Noted constitutional law authority A.E. Dick Howard told Elon Law students the historic election of Barack Obama as president vindicates civil rights commitments made by our nation's Founding Fathers.

Elon Law students joined the Young Lawyers Division of the North Carolina Bar Association, local volunteers and law students from around the region on Oct. 25 for  “Wills for Heroes,” a day set aside to draft legal documents for more than 300 emergency responders. 

A.E. Dick Howard, White Burkett Miller Professor of Law and Public Affairs at the University of Virginia School of Law, will deliver the Sandra Day O'Connor Lecture at 7:30 p.m., Thursday, Nov. 6. The talk will be at the Carolina Theatre in downtown Greensboro.

Scott Gaylord, an associate professor of law, co-authored a report this fall for the Federalist Society and, in a separate project, joined another colleague in presenting research to North Carolina's Senior Resident Superior Court Judge.
