Henry Gabriel advances international law on multiple fronts

Elon Law professor Henry Gabriel remained actively engaged in globally-coordinated efforts to improve international commercial law in recent months, through a series of presentations, meetings and collaborative work with law scholars, government agencies and advisory groups involved in shaping the future of law related to international business and commerce. Scott Gaylord featured in North Carolina Lawyers Weekly

After highlighting a recent decrease in North Carolina Supreme Court decisions, Elon Law professor Scott Gaylord has sparked dialogue in the North Carolina legal community. The October 29 edition of North Carolina Lawyers Weekly addresses concerns raised by Gaylord in his article, "The North Carolina Supreme Court in 2010: Is it Time for Reform," which was published by The Federalist Society for Law and Public Policy Studies on October 26.

Elon Law recognizes contributions in the law of Justice Harry C. Martin

At Elon Law's final Reception with the Legal Community of the fall 2010 semester, Distinguished Jurist in Residence James G. Exum, Jr. spoke on behalf of the law school to recognize the extraordinary achievements and significant contributions in the law of The Honorable Harry C. Martin, former Associate Justice of the North Carolina Supreme Court and the first Chief Justice of the Eastern Band of the Cherokee Nation.

Student group hosts presentation on estate planning for LGBT community

On November 9, Lennie Gerber, a High Point, N.C. attorney specializing in estate planning for the lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender (LGBT) community, delivered a presentation at Elon Law through an event hosted by OutLaw, a student organization raising awareness about LGBT legal issues and fostering an accepting and supportive environment for the LGBT community at the law school and in the greater legal community.

Elon Law students present donations to nonprofit organizations in the Triad

Through Elon Law's Lawyering, Leadership, and Professionalism course, four student groups presented donations to nonprofit organizations in the region at an evening reception with the legal community on November 11. The funds derived from monetary prizes the students received from The Center for Creative Leadership (CCL) in recognition of outstanding presentations and papers on the topic of lawyer leadership.

Family Law Society forum features Children’s Law Center

On November 18, the Family Law Society hosted its second networking lunch of the semester, featuring two attorneys from the Children's Law Center of Central North Carolina.
