Guided by curiosity and a passion for storytelling, Lillian Engel ’19 turned her love of editing at Elon into a thriving Hollywood career. From campus projects to major films like "Extraction" and "Joker: Folie à Deux," she embodies the power of hands-on learning, persistence and community.

The investigative reporter will visit the School of Communications to discuss his Pulitzer Center–supported series examining how vaccine misinformation fueled a devastating measles outbreak that claimed dozens of young lives.

The annual journalism workshop, hosted by the School of Communications in partnership with the North Carolina Scholastic Media Association and The News & Observer, welcomed students and advisers for a day of sessions led by media professionals and educators.

As part of its 25th anniversary celebration during Homecoming Weekend, the School of Communications honored Wilson for her accomplishments as a showrunner and writer in Hollywood. The milestone event also reflected on the school’s transformation over 25 years – from its early beginnings to a nationally respected program known for producing industry-ready graduates.

For her Summer Undergraduate Research Experience project, Merrie Byers ’26 has created a documentary exploring the friendship of two religious leaders whose communities share a complicated past.
