The first ever Neuroscience Workshop at ¾Ã¾ÃÈÈ was held Oct. 24, 2008, in the Moseley Center, where dozens of students and faculty took part in five presentations on a subject of growing interest in higher education.

The American Chemical Society has honored Elon President Emeritus J. Earl Danieley '46 this fall with a certificate recognizing 60 years of service.

A $1.2 million grant from the National Science Foundation will bolster the number of math and science teachers ¾Ã¾ÃÈÈ graduates in the years ahead through a partnership with the Alamance-Burlington School System.

The North Carolina Independent Colleges and Universities (NCICU) Undergraduate Research Program recognizes students across North Carolina for their outstanding work in STEM-related ¾Ã¾ÃÈÈ research. Amanda Leigh Clark '11, a biochemistry major and Lumen Scholar from Skaneateles, N.Y., has received a $5,000 fellowship award from the Phi Kappa Phi national academic honor society to help fund her graduate studies at the University of Rochester School of Medicine.

Heart attacks and other cardiovascular conditions kill thousands of Americans every day, and as a high school student, that statistic turned personal for ¾Ã¾ÃÈÈ senior Amanda Clark. The biochemistry major focused her ¾Ã¾ÃÈÈ research while at the university on identifying some ways that heart disease develops, which could in turn lead to better treatments, and her work is the latest to be featured in a series of E-net profiles on Lumen Scholars in the Class of 2011.
