Directly aligning with the university Boldly Elon strategic plan, events are planned for students to play a role in civic engagement and civil discourse.

To conclude their Winter Term study away course, graduate students hosted formal presentations on Jan. 25 to highlight their contributions supporting two nonprofit organizations on the Caribbean island.

Last fall break, seven Elon students traveled to Winston-Salem to work with Second Harvest addressing food insecurity throughout the state.

The MLK Student Build: Habitat for Humanity was one of many events organized in honor of Martin Luther King Jr. Day by Elon.

Zaken was selected as a member of the inaugural cohort, and will bring tools back to Elon to engage with Jewish social justice work

Three speakers will engage with the Elon community members on their respective religious and spiritual journeys.

Among those visiting Elon this year are actor BD Wong, civic engagement advocate Eric Liu, astronaut Leland Melvin and researcher Belle Liang.

The Elon junior will serve alongside five other members, including Assistant Professor Israel Balderas, who is the newly appointed chair of the Legal Defense Fund.

Led by Associate Professor Hal Walker, the service-learning class coordinated an October fundraiser to support the Burlington-based nonprofit organization.

The conference seeks to promote the work of women, to combat identity-based exploitation and marginalization and to educate and empower future audio professionals to create an environment of inclusion and diversity.
