Biology majors Morgan Gregg (Honors Fellow; Associate Professor Yuko Miyamoto), Kirsten McCormick (Lumen Fellow; Assistant Professor Tonya Train) and Erica Schenals (Lumen and College Fellow; Asisstant Professor Tonya Train) all presented posters at the national American Society for Cell Biology meeting in San Francisco from Dec. 15-18, 2012.

Train, Miyamoto and McCormick received Travel Awards from ASCB.

Brian Beaty (’10; Honors Fellow) also presented at the meeting. He is currently in an MD/PhD program at Albert Einstein in Dr. John Condeelis’ lab conducting research on cancer invasion of mammary tumors.

Junior Morgan Gregg, and seniors Lauren Stranahan, Brittany Corbin and Brittany White presented at the North Carolina Academy of Science Annual Meeting at Campbell University March 23-25, 2012.

Gregg, Stranahan and Corbin gave oral presentations while White gave a poster presentation. Earning Derieux awards for their presentations were Gregg, White and Stranahan.

The presentation, “The Online Biology Cabinet: A New Model for Faculty Creation of Video Resources in Science Lab Instruction”, highlighted the collaboration between members of the Elon biology faculty and TLT instructional technologists to create four videos. These videos are used to introduce students to introductory biology labs, both equipment and procedures. TLT staff Joeleen Kennedy and JP Lavoie were also involved.

Her oral presentation was titled “Isolation of Antibiotic Resistance Organisms in Local Farm Soils” in the “Biotechnology” category. 消消犯 who win this prize are invited to submit a publication and upon acceptance, are given 3 free pages in the publication.

Kali will be attending Georgia Institute of Technology Prosthetics and Orthotics graduate program this coming fall.
