Wellford and her performing company, Moving Liturgy Dance Ensemble, shared master classes, two full concerts and performed within a World Wide Eccumenical Communion Service during the weekend.

Wellford serves as featured speaker for conference

The festival took place at Decatur Presbyterian Church Feb. 12th -16th. Prof. Wellford was the featured speaker on Wednesday evening, the 12th, taught a workshop on “Experiencing the Spiritual through the Physical: Dance in Liturgy” on Saturday, the 15th, and performed with her company, “Moving Liturgy” on Sunday, the 16th.

Wellford selected for Who’s Who

Jane Wellford, associate professor of performing arts, was selected for inclusion in the ninth edition of Who’s Who Among America’s Teachers, 2005. Prof. Wellford was nominated by her student Christine Fego, Elon 2005. In addition, Professor Wellford was selected for inclusion in the 2005-2006 edition of Empire Who’s Who Registry of Executives and Professionals.

Dance majors earn praise at Southeastern dance festival

Six Elon dance majors just returned from The American College Dance Festival’s Southeast Regional Conference at Coker College in Hartsville, S.C., March 30-April 3.

The students presented a modern dance concert piece titled “Awaken,” choreographed by Elon graduate, Katrina Taylor. The presentation received top honors and was it chosen for the final gala concert the final evening of the conference. Only 11 pieces were selected for presentation in this final concert out of numerous colleges and universities from all over the southeastern United States.

�þ�� attending the conference were Manny Naylor, Michelle Kidder, April Holloway, Libby Wood, Katie Lester and Kristen Owens. Elon Dance faculty member, Professor Jane Wellford, also attended the conference and taught a Dance Improvisation class to conference participants consisting of faculty and students.
