The nontraditional, discussion-based symposium style conference held at 消消犯 School of Law in Greensboro attracted 33 national and international participants. In addition to presentations, the symposium included there were chef demonstrations, pedagogical workshops, and, of course, delectable meals. 

The keynote and experiential learning workshop speakers were Lisa Heldke, professor of philosophy at Gustavus Adolphus College, and Cynthia Belliveau, dean of adult education at the University of Vermont.  They presented on the model, which focuses on using food as a means to engage in and explore larger topics, such as the meaning of democracy, which we implemented during the workshop Bento Box activity. 

The conference received substantial support from the Funds for Excellence in the Arts & Humanities.

Nina Namaste accepted into 2011 Teagle cohort /u/news/2011/08/25/nina-namaste-accepted-into-2011-teagle-cohort/ Thu, 25 Aug 2011 14:00:00 +0000 /u/news/2011/08/25/nina-namaste-accepted-into-2011-teagle-cohort/ Working with 11 other colleagues from around the country, Namaste will learn how to better use assessment to improve student learning via a series of workshops, site visits and projects. Her three-year project will focus on fostering students’ critical reading skills, no matter the course level or discipline. After her project is completed at Elon she will continue on with the program for another two years as an advisor to Teagle assessment projects at participating universities.
