The Biology Department has openings for student workers during Fall 2006. An employment information session will be held on Tues., April 25 from 3-4:30 PM in McMichael Science Bldg Room 114. Most positions are available to any major.

Job opportunities that will be available include:

Lab Assistant for BIO 102, multiple positions available

Lab Assistant for BIO 113 and 114, multiple positions available (bio majors only)

Safety Assistant, one position

Clean-up Assistant, one position

Inventory-Ordering Assistant, one position

BIO 102 labs begin Monday, Feb. 3

Bio 102 Labs begin on Monday 3 Feb 03. This may be before some students have attended lecture.

Supplies to bring to the first lab:

*You will need your lab manual, “An Inquiry Approach to Biology”, for the first lab. Bring it to every lab!

The �þ�� Bookstore has plenty of lab manuals on the shelves.

*Be sure to also purchase the shrink-wrapped computer access code on the shelf to the left of the lab manuals. Also bring this to the first lab.

*Pencilw/eraser

If money is a problem, check w/ Residence Life. The school can make you a loan so you can get your textbooks.

Need document restoration advice

Can anyone direct me to advice or an advisor on document restoration/preservation? I have found a cache of WWII papers and GI-drawn pictures in my father-in-law’s garage. What organizations might be interested in the ones I don’t really want to keep but hate to throw away?

Assistants Needed for Biology Labs

Biology Online access codes for fall

Warning:Please do not try to buy someone’s unused Biology Online computer codes. The company that sells them de-activates them and they would be useless for fall. You must but a new code when you buy your lab manual.

Looking for a low stress class that will also give you skills useful to future employers? Need a job on campus? Try BIO 181 offered on FRI, 12-3. Course includes hands-on, how to do lab activities, “people watching,” time management and has an online portion. Completion of course leads to long term employment as a BIO 102 lab assistant. General Biology Labs begin week of Feb. 9

BIO 102, General Biology Laboratory, will begin the week of Feb. 9th. BIO 102 will not meet this week. Here are the things you need to bring with you to the first lab:

1)lab manual, available in the campus bookstore, 2) computer access code, available on the shelf by the lab manual 3)course syllabus, available by going to Blackboard, 4) small stapler, available in the campus bookstore. If you have questions, please contact your lab instructor or the Biology Lab Manager, Catherine Newsome, ext 6193.
