MUS 115 A: The Fundamentals of Music class to debut

This year, the Music Department is offering an exciting new class that is open to all students: MUS 115 A, The Fundamentals of Music. This class provides an introduction to the basic elements of music: pitch, rhythm, form, timbre, dynamics, and texture. �þ�� will learn to read and write music and apply their knowledge to performance and criticism, through in-class performance and listening exercises and out-of-class concert experiences. The Fundamentals of Music is both an excellent preparation for incoming music majors and minors beginning their study of Music Theory and Aural Skills, and an Expression credit for students in other departments with an interest in music.

The Fundamentals of Music meets on Tuesdays and Thursdays at 10:30 a.m. Come join us!

Elon Percussion Ensemble seeks new members

We are MUS 108 A and we are open to percussionists of all skill levels. We will be reading and performing some very exciting music next semester, including pieces for non-traditional instruments. The class meets on Wednesday evenings from 5:30 to 7:10 p.m. Come join us!

This event gathers performers and educators from across the state to take part in clinics, master classes, and performances. Under the direction of Mariana Poole, the ensemble will perform three pieces:

March for Two Pairs of Kettledrums, by Andre and Jacques Philidor

A Paris/On Parole/Frese Nouvelle, an Anonymous 13th century French motet, arranged by M. Poole

Recuerdos de la Alhambra, by Francisco Tarrega, arranged by S. Mathiesen
