Team Hero – Volunteers Needed /u/news/2012/03/05/team-hero-volunteers-needed/ Mon, 05 Mar 2012 22:04:00 +0000 /u/news/2012/03/05/team-hero-volunteers-needed/ Do you know someone who has served, or is currently serving in the military? Even if you don’t, here’s your chance to connect with members of the military and show your appreciation!

On April 28, Team Hero will be hosting a softball tournament to allow students and members of the military community to share experiences, while having fun playing softball! If you would like to play in the tournament, we are looking for teams of 8-10 players. If you do not have a group to register with, we can find a team for you! If you are interested in playing or volunteering at the tournament, please contact Kathleen McCarthy (kmccarthy14@elon.edu) by April 21.

Team Hero works to provide support to military veterans and their families, as well as educate the Elon community about this under appreciated part of American society. Team Hero also supports a nonprofit, Paws and Stripes (pawsandstripes.org), who provide service dogs for veterans with post-traumatic stress disorder and/or a traumatic brain injury. All money raised by Team Hero events go towards sponsoring a veteran and service dog to enroll in the Paws and Stripes program.

Be on the lookout for more information and updates about the tournament!
