Physical therapy information session Nov. 13

Tuesday, Nov. 13, from 5:30-6:30, the Health and Human Performance Club will be hosting representatives from the Elon Physical Therapy program in KOBC 302. This meeting will give students the opportunity to learn more about the PT program. The guests will include the director of admissions for the PT school, who will discuss what the graduate admission office looks for in candidates.

We will also have a couple of PT students coming who will discuss the class material and structure of the program in general. RSVP is optional but encouraged for people who know they will be attending. Email her at Madeline Weikert mweikert@elon.edu. Hope to see you there!

Not sure what you are going to do after graduation? Do you need guidance or advice on entering a health profession?

Come to the discussion panel and hear from five professionals that can help you make choices for your future! The event will include a short speech by each panel member and time for questions and answers at the end. Additionally, a reception will be held immediately after for further questions and “one on one” time with each professional.

The next HHP meeting will be this Tuesday, Oct 2 at 5:30-6:30 in Belk 102.

We will be having a workshop information session about personalizing your exercise program and about marathons/triathlons. We will also be discussing and planning for the professional development event coming up in November.

Focus of the Week:

We will be discussing research opportunities in the Health and Human Performance Department at Elon. The workshop/meeting will cover both the logistics of how to get involved in research on campus, what is the established application and selection process, etc., as well as the student’s perspective on the different opportunities for presenting research (ACSM, SURF, or internships). The members will also hear about the different research programs on campus, such as class credit research and the SURE summer program. Four students will speak at the workshop about their own personal experiences with doing research on campus. A professor will also share more about the different research opportunities available to Elon students interested in the HHP department.

The Health & Human Performance Club is open to anyone majoring, minoring, or interested in HHP and its various sub-disciplines. The club is committed to providing opportunities for professional development, relevant service work, and a sense of community for those interested in HHP and the Allied Health Professions.

HHP End of Year Picnic, May 5

This Saturday, May 5th HHP will be celebrating the end of the year with an afternoon at Lake Mackintosh. Member, non-member, old member, potential member, just a random Elon student….it does not really matter who you are, feel free to come out and join us for a relaxing evening of picnicking, hiking, canoeing ($8), sunbathing, volleyball, football, baseball, Frisbee (i.e. bring stuff to play with outside)!!

We will depart from the parking lot behind Koury Gym at 4:30 PM and return to campus around 7:30 PM. The club plans to carpool over to the lake.

As for the picnic, please bring your own sandwich, hot dog, etc. to eat. The club will provide drinks, fruit, and some snack foods.

Please let me know if you have any questions. I look forward to seeing you all at the lake! Good luck in your final week of classes!

Sign-up for Cosmic Ultimate Frisbee today April 25

Registration for the HHP Cosmic Ultimate Frisbee tournament on April 27 is still going on! Registration forms can be obtained by emailing Christen Aquino at caquino@elon.edu.

Forms are due in April 20th, money is due no later than Thursday, April 26th. Teams of 7-10. $7 per person.
