¾Ã¾ÃÈÈ

A new cohort of students begins the Master of Education program this summer, representing 11 North Carolina school districts, two out-of-state districts and five other countries.

 

School of Education faculty members Alec French, Marna Winter and Jeff Carpenter were recognized on May 17 for their excellence in ¾Ã¾ÃÈÈ, service, and scholarship at the annual school awards banquet.   

 

The School of Education hosted its first Celebration of Excellence event on Thursday, May 4, and recognized outstanding achievements and academic excellence of the class of 2017.

Sayag, who graduated in 2011, is a third-grade teacher at McDougle Elementary School in Chapel Hill-Carrboro City Schools. 

The Strong Beginnings for Babies Project is designed for supporting families of infants in discovering strategies that are helpful, culturally relevant, and easy to use for fostering their children’s language development.

The School of Education appreciates the support from strong leaders in the Alamance-Burlington School System who are willing to work with Elon's (soon-to-be) newest teachers.

Mark Enfield, associate professor of education, is currently working with Jayne Woodruff, third-grade teacher at Altamahaw-Ossipee Elementary School, to teach a problem-based learning science unit on the human body systems. 

K-12 school representatives gathered in Moseley Center on March 16 to meet and interview prospective teachers for professional positions at the ¾Ã¾ÃÈÈ Teacher Fair.

 

More than 150 school district administrators and IHE representatives met to discuss the critical shortage of special educators in the state or North Carolina. 

Jessica Wery, assistant professor of education, has served in leadership roles with the international nonprofit during the past four years.
