First French Club meeting & movie Sept. 12 /u/news/2007/09/12/first-french-club-meeting-movie-sept-12/ Wed, 12 Sep 2007 12:11:00 +0000 /u/news/2007/09/12/first-french-club-meeting-movie-sept-12/ Bonjour toute le monde!

Please join us for the first French Club event of the academic year.  Come for elections, free pizza and a film on Wednesday, Sept. 12 at 5:30 p.m. in McEwen 011.  French Club officers will show Les Choristes — a #1 hit in the French box office in 2004.  This film is a MUST-SEE!  Below is a brief description:

An unknown but motivated musician named Mr. Mathieu (Gérard Jugnot) takes a job as a supervisor at a boarding school for hard-to-manage boys.  The film progresses as the trouble-makers allow Mr. Mathieu to turn them into a choir.  In the process — and to his amazement — Mr. Mathieu discovers a great talent, Pierre Morhange (Jean-Baptiste Maunier).  Introduced to Mr. Mathieu as the boy with the “face of an angel” and the mind of a delinquent, Morhange has an exquisite voice.  The film evokes many emotions through its plot, the depth of its characters, and the captivating music which brings the boys together.
Ultimately, Mr. Mathieu reminds us of the teachers — anonymous to the world — who have touched and motivated many great talents.

We hope to see you there!
