Looking for a new sport? Consider an Elon Rifle Club! /u/news/2005/04/08/looking-for-a-new-sport-consider-an-elon-rifle-club/ Fri, 08 Apr 2005 20:14:00 +0000 /u/news/2005/04/08/looking-for-a-new-sport-consider-an-elon-rifle-club/ Hundreds of American colleges and universities offer shooting sports

programs. Competitive shooting has been a tradition all across the nation,

and now it’s available to Elon!

What are Collegiate Shooting Sports?

Varsity teams compete in the shooting disciplines of rifle, pistol, air gun

and shotgun.

Marksmanship is an acquired skill within the grasp of every student. The

shooting sports require only interest, attention to safety and dedication to

achieving shooting excellence. Shooting teaches respect for safety and

helps to develop sportsmanship, leadership, responsibility, concentration and self discipline.

One of the most attractive aspects of college shooting is that it is a co-ed

sport. Men and women compete as equals. Discover the challenge of competing against your personal bests and stretching your limits of skill. Every student, regardless of sex, size, physical or athletic ability, has the opportunity to participate in college shooting at some level.

If you are interested in joining a Rifle Club at Elon, or would just like some more information, please contact JP Chism at jchism@elon.edu
