Please encourage your students to attend this session.

Mr. White will also be available on Friday, March 15, from 9:00 a.m. – noon for individual appointments with faculty and students. If you are interested in scheduling a time to meet with him on Friday, please call Lisa Alcon in the Isabella Cannon Centre at 278-6700.

Currently the president of the Center for International Policy, Mr. White’s international experience dates to 1955 when he worked at the State Department as an international economist. Since that time, he has worked with American embassies and consulates in Hong Kong, Canada, Ecuador, Columbia, Nicaragua, El Salvador and Paraguay. In the late 1960s, he acted as the Peace Corps director for Latin America. His other experience includes work with the Carnegie Endowment for International Peace, with the International Center for Development Policy and with Simmons College as Professor of International Relations.

Economic expert from Costa Rica to speak /u/news/2006/01/12/economic-expert-from-costa-rica-to-speak/ Thu, 12 Jan 2006 19:09:00 +0000 /u/news/2006/01/12/economic-expert-from-costa-rica-to-speak/ Dr. Jorge Nowalski, chairman of the International Center for Sustainable Human Development (CIDH) in Costa Rica, will be on campus Monday, April 29– Wednesday, May 1. He will speak in various classes regarding social and economic development in Latin America and the Caribbean.

He will also give a presentation about economic, labor and social asymmetries in Central America in Moseley 215 on Monday, April 29, from 4 to 5 p.m. A question-and-answer-session will follow. Please attend and encourage your students to come. He will also be available for a few individual appointments on Wednesday, May 1. If you would like to set up an appointment or have any questions, please call the Isabella Cannon Centre at 278-6700 for more information.

CIDH is a non-profit organization that promotes sustainable development in Latin America and the Caribbean through research, policy analysis and education. Elon students will study at CIDH beginning in the fall with Elon’s new semester program in Costa Rica.

Dr. Nowalski holds a Ph.D. in labor issues and Social Security from the London School of Economics as well as degrees in industrial relations, public administration of the social state and economics. He is a university professor and a labor consultant for public and private business groups.
