Remember the Honor Code in housing selection process /u/news/2009/02/09/remember-the-honor-code-in-housing-selection-process/ Mon, 09 Feb 2009 19:10:00 +0000 /u/news/2009/02/09/remember-the-honor-code-in-housing-selection-process/ Keep in mind the Honor Code!

Residence Life makes every effort to ensure that housing selection is a fair process for everyone. It is an Honor Code violation to attempt to circumvent the policies/procedures and makes housing selection an unfair process for other students.

The following are examples of honor code violations:

• Knowingly signing a lease for an apartment space that you do not intend to live in during the fall.

• Squatting your apartment so that you and your group can “pass” the apartment to students of your choosing or soliciting a group to “pass” their apartment to you.

Honor Code violations in regards to housing selection will be handled through Judicial Affairs.

Don’t forget to Pay your Housing Reservation Fee /u/news/2009/02/09/dont-forget-to-pay-your-housing-reservation-fee/ Mon, 09 Feb 2009 19:08:00 +0000 /u/news/2009/02/09/dont-forget-to-pay-your-housing-reservation-fee/ In order to participate in Housing Selection 2009 you must pay the Bursar’s Office a $200 housing reservation fee. No receipt is needed.

When do I pay the reservation fee?:
¾Ã¾ÃÈÈ can begin paying the reservation fee on January 1, 2009. It is advisable that you pay your deposit soon as you must allow 48 hours for your deposit to be processed.
The only exception to paying the $200 reservation fee is for students renewing leases in Elon owned apartments (The Oaks, Danieley Center A-F, and Danieley Center O-P), and students with certain scholarships.

How can I pay the reservation fee?:
• Call the Bursar’s Office: 336.278.5300
• Online
• Take Check or Credit Card to the Bursar’s Office: Alamance 111

Once the housing reservation fee payment is made it takes roughly 24 hours to process. ¾Ã¾ÃÈÈ will need to plan accordingly when applying for housing. ¾Ã¾ÃÈÈ will not be able to log in to the housing applications for roughly 24 hours after they submit their payment.

What becomes of the reservation fee?:
If you are assigned a residence hall space your reservation fee will be applied to your fall tuition bill.
If you are assigned an apartment space your reservation fee will be transferred to a security deposit account and will be held until you move out of the apartment.

What if I don’t receive a housing assignment?
To receive a refund, come to Residence Life (Moseley 213) and complete a housing reservation fee refund form. Once you have completed the form, please allow 2-3 weeks for Residence Life and the Bursar’s Office to process. Your housing reservation fee will be refunded to you in the same manner that it was paid. For instance, if you paid with a credit card, the money will be refunded to your credit card account.

Housing Selection Phase Two: Sophomores Starts tonight March 17 /u/news/2008/03/17/housing-selection-phase-two-sophomores-starts-tonight-march-17/ Mon, 17 Mar 2008 15:47:00 +0000 /u/news/2008/03/17/housing-selection-phase-two-sophomores-starts-tonight-march-17/ Housing Selection Phase Two for Sophomores Starts tonight March 17

Phase Two Basics
• All sophomores are required to live on campus. If you are interested in living off campus you must submit an appeal. The deadline to appeal is April 4.
• You MUST SELECT AN ASSIGNMENT ON MONDAY OR TUESDAY. Even if you plan to appeal, you must make a selection during the online process.
• While filling out the application, please check the middle of the first page for the “counter,” which lists which buildings are full or almost full during the process.
• Unless you received prior approval, your group cannot include any students who currently live off campus. Additionally, because we have reached the limit of seniors and juniors that we can house next year, your group cannot include any rising juniors or seniors.
• Fill out the Housing Selection Planning Worksheet and bring it in to Moseley 213 this week to register all members of your group to win one of four $100 gift cards to Best Buy.

CHECK ELIGIBILITY IN ADVANCE
• To avoid problems while you are applying for housing, it is highly recommended that you check your eligibility before your application start time. The number one step you can take to help your group with housing selection is to check your eligibility today.
• The eligibility page will tell you your earliest application time slot and whether someone in your group has holds or errors which would prevent you from filling out the application.
• To check eligibility, log-on to Ontrack and click the link for “Phase Two.”
• Remember, it takes 48 hours for your housing reservation fee to be processed, and you cannot get in to the application until this has been paid and processed.
