Pi Kappa Phi sends 3 on Journey of Hope /u/news/2006/01/12/pi-kappa-phi-sends-3-on-journey-of-hope/ Thu, 12 Jan 2006 19:09:00 +0000 /u/news/2006/01/12/pi-kappa-phi-sends-3-on-journey-of-hope/ Pi Kappa Phi Fraternity is proud to announce that three brothers have been chosen from the Epsilon Alpha Chapter at Elon to participate in the Journey of Hope. Brian O’Shea and Brian Scherich have both been selected to ride and Jon Williams has been selected to be a part of the team’s crew.

The Journey of Hope is a cross-country bicycle trek beginning in San Francisco, CA and ending in Washington, D.C. The event is sponsored by PUSH America, Pi Kappa Phi’s national philanthropy. The cyclists and crew will raise funds and awareness on behalf of people with disabilities. Each year the project raises over $300,000 for people with disabilities.

PUSH America was founded in 1977 and remains the exclusive service learning project of Pi Kappa Phi with the purpose of instilling lifelong service in fraternity members and serving people with disabilities.

This May marks the beginning of Pi Kappa Phi’s fourth year on Elon’s campus. In its time on campus the chapter has sent eight men on this journey. This is a huge honor for the Epsilon Alpha chapter here at 消消犯 and a tremendous honor and opportunity for these men.

The brothers of the Epsilon Alpha Chapter of Pi Kappa Phi Fraternity would like to congratulate and acknowledge the accomplishments of Brian O’Shea, Brian Scherich, and Jon Williams. We hope that the Elon Community will join us in these best wishes for their acceptance to this year’s Journey of Hope Team.

Pi Kappa Phi to host April 5 cycling event for kids /u/news/2003/03/10/pi-kappa-phi-to-host-april-5-cycling-event-for-kids/ Mon, 10 Mar 2003 14:32:00 +0000 /u/news/2003/03/10/pi-kappa-phi-to-host-april-5-cycling-event-for-kids/ On Saturday, April 5, 2003, the Epsilon Alpha chapter of Pi Kappa Phi Fraternity will be hosting a cycling event to Andrew’s Elementary school. Andrew’s is an elementary school in Burlington that helps children with disabilities. In addition to the cycling itself, the brothers will be hosting games and activities for the kids and an educational puppet show for the parents.

Pi Kappa Phi will be holding this event in the name of Push America, the national outreach program of Pi Kappa Phi. The main focus of Push America is to serve people with disabilities through three main focus areas: volunteering, raising awareness, and fundraising.

Pi Kappa Phi would like to extend an invitation to any student or faculty or staff member who wishes to take part in the day’s activities. The fraternity invites anyone who is interested in cycling or in helping with the day’s events. This is an awesome opportunity to work with some amazing kids. It’s that opportunity that has the potential to change your life.

To register or to learn more, please contact Adam Lentz (alentz@elon.edu) by Saturday, March 15 and get ready for the ride of your life with Pi Kapp On the Road 2003
