Markovich is the senior editor/writer at Our State, and a former special content producer for NBC Charlotte. He has won two 2011 regional Emmy Awards and regional Edward R. Murrow awards along with the 2011 Green Eyeshade award for Magazine Feature Writing, the 2010 National City and Regional Magazine Award for Personality Profile, the 2010 Clarion Award for a Magazine Feature Article, and the 2010 Green Eyeshade Award’s Best-In-Show for Non Daily Print Journalism. His work was also featured in The Best American Sports Writing 2014.

He lives near Greensboro with his wife, his two kids and his dog.

Elon students in the classes, Working With Groups and Communities and The Art and Science of Human Service Studies, presented a quilt made by survivors of sexual abuse and assault to the Burlington City Council on April 5. Julie Budd, director of volunteer services of CrossRoads Sexual Assault Response and Resource Center in Burlington, N.C., coordinated student involvement in the advocacy presentation. The students were also featured in the April 7, 2016 edition of The Alamance News for their work during National Sexual Assault Prevention Week.
