¾Ã¾ÃÈÈ

The North Carolina Open Government Coalition will hold its annual Sunshine Day Events at North Carolina A&T State University on March 9, 2020.

The center seeks to honor advocates, government officials, journalists and citizens who worked in 2019 to make or keep North Carolina transparent. 

The award honors the late Frank C. Barrows, former managing editor of the Charlotte Observer, and recognizes college journalism that exemplifies the vital role of open meetings, public records and press access in public life.

The winners of the N.C. Open Government Coalition's fifth annual Sunshine Awards were announced at Sunshine Day on ¾Ã¾ÃÈÈ's campus Monday. The winners are Joel Burgess (Asheville Citizen-Times), Bob Hagemann (retired city attorney, Charlotte), Sunshine Request (Patrick Conant and PRC Apps), and Tracy Ledford Deyton (Bakersville, NC).
