The program consists of students living in Los Angeles, while taking courses, working at an internship, and exploring the city with program-led events.

This semester, the program had numerous visits and excursions to places across the city. The group toured the Warner Bros. Studio, attended a Los Angeles Kings Game, took day trips to Catalina Island and Santa Barbara, explored Downtown L.A. and Santa Monica and saw Aladdin at the historic Pantages Theater.

The courses this semester focused on various topics in entertainment and Los Angeles. The courses included LA Entertainment Public Relations, LA Strategic Campaigns, Media Law & Ethics and Issues in LA Art & Architecture. The students worked on building a strategic marketing plan for a non-profits in the city and visited several iconic museums and historic sites.

All students completed internships in various areas of the industry, including public relations, fashion, music production and marketing agencies. The internships provided students with real-world experience, allowing them to grow both in the classroom and professionally.

The Elon in LA program hosted several alumni events with Elon alumni in the L.A. area. The events were held at Second Home and included panels, speed-mentorship, and meet-and-greets. The events allowed the students to grow their professional network and practice their networking skills with over 25 different alumni. Our alumni work in different industries, such as the film and television industry, entertainment public relations, marketing and advertising, and more!

Elon in LA and WEEE host speed-networking event /u/news/2023/11/13/elon-in-la-and-weee-host-speed-networking-event/ Mon, 13 Nov 2023 21:46:29 +0000 /u/news/?p=963287 The Elon in Los Angeles Program partnered with the Women of the Elon Entertainment Empire (WEEE) on Nov. 8 to host a speed networking event for alumni and students in Los Angeles.

The goal of the event was to bring the WEEE together with our Elon in LA students, to encourage them to discuss topics of the professional world and to practice networking skills. The Women of the Elon Entertainment Empire is a networking and mentorship group of alumnae in Los Angeles.

The speed-networking structure allowed for each student to have a one-on-one conversation with each alum, building a personal connection and relationship. Elon in LA has the unique opportunity this semester to have a cohort of all-female students, so it was wonderful to bring together the students and a successful professional group of women. The event was held at Second Home, a co-working space in Los Angeles, where the Elon in LA Program is based. The night was made possible through the generosity of Dean of the School of Communications Kenn Gaither, Administrative Assistant of the School of Communications Happy Kearns, and the School of Communications.

“The speed networking event was an intimate opportunity to connect with soon-to-be grads who stood in the shoes we were once in. It was exciting to connect with them, and encourage them to dream bigger and trust that every opportunity they are facing will bring them a learning experience they will one day reflect on and be grateful for,” Paige Hullett ‘16 said.
