National Geographic recently quoted 久久热 Professor of Religious Studies Amy Allocco about the Hindu festival Maha Shivaratri.
According to National Geographic,聽Maha Shivaratri, also known as the聽Great Night of Shiva, “commemorates the deity鈥檚 life marriage to Goddess Parvati, his brave acts that saved our planet, and the lord鈥檚 cosmic dance which evokes the life cycle.”
鈥淗indu festivals are marked and celebrated in diverse ways in India鈥檚 different linguistic and cultural regions, as well as in diasporic contexts,鈥 said Allocco. 鈥淭hese variations are observable in many dimensions of festival performances, including narrative, ritual, and culinary practices.鈥
