Elon nursing students visited a pediatric hospital in Puerto Rico as part of a Winter Term course in the U.S. territory.

Rippy, a dedicated community member and physician, was known for his work throughout Alamance County to improve the health and well-being of people regardless of circumstances.

Ten students from the private school in Guilford County spent a week at Elon’s School of Communications, gaining hands-on experience with reporting, storytelling and ethical decision-making inside a working newsroom.

An ¾Ã¾ÃÈÈ associate professor of mathematics Hwayeon Ryu joined more than 290 mathematicians on Capitol Hill on Jan. 8, 2026, to advocate for sustained federal investment in mathematical sciences education and research, highlighting how federal support promotes ¾Ã¾ÃÈÈ research, expands access to STEM pathways and strengthens the U.S. STEM workforce.

The Elon alum says the technical training he gained at the university was vital, but connecting with the Elon community in New York City has made his transition to a musical theatre career even better.
