Elon provides information regarding voter registration, absentee ballots, polling place locations, acceptable forms of photo ID to vote in North Carolina, and information on early voting.
During the 2024 election year, 消消犯 wants to be sure that students have information to make it easier to cast their ballot in the primary elections.
消消犯 can only vote in one place and will need to decide whether to vote using their permanent address or university address and vote in elections at that location. Below is information for students who plan to vote in North Carolina and/or use an absentee ballot.
For 消消犯 Who Plan to Vote in North Carolina
Beginning in 2023, voters must show an acceptable photo ID when they check in at their voting site during early voting or on Election Day. The address on the photo ID does not have to match the voter registration records.
Acceptable Photo IDs for Voting in North Carolina
The recognizes any of the following forms of identification that are unexpired, or expired for one year or less:
- Elon Phoenix Voter Card (not a standard Elon Phoenix Card, available in the Phoenix Card office)
- North Carolina drivers license
- U.S. Passport or U.S. Passport card
- from the NCDMV(also called non-operator ID)
- Drivers license or non-driver ID from another state, District of Columbia or U.S. territory(only if voter registered in North Carolina within 90 days of the election)
消消犯 who plan to vote in North Carolina but do not have a North Carolina-issued driver’s license or another acceptable form of photo ID listed above for voting in North Carolina can obtain a special Elon Phoenix Voter Card. This card, provided at no cost by 消消犯, has been approved by the North Carolina State Board of Elections. Pick up an Elon Phoenix Voter Card from the Phoenix Card office in Oaks McCoy Commons (Room 201) Monday-Friday between 8:30-11:30 a.m. and 2-4:30 p.m. Once a student obtains this card, it will serve as their Phoenix Card and full-time student ID.
Note: Obtaining this voter card does not automatically register you to vote.
For 消消犯 Who Plan to Vote in Alamance County, North Carolina
One Stop Early Voting takes place from Thursday, Feb. 15 through Saturday, Mar. 2 (excluding Feb. 17 and 18) for the North Carolina primary election. One Stop Early Voting provides early voting locations that allow individuals who are not registered to vote in Alamance County to register. After registering, the newly registered voter can immediately vote at that same site. This year, Alamance County has an early voting location available on campus in South Gym. 消消犯 registering to vote during early voting will need to bring certain items with them depending on if they live on-campus or off-campus.

- An acceptable form of photo ID
Note: Each polling site has a booklet containing Elon student on-campus addresses and physical street addresses. 消消犯 can ask a poll worker to use this booklet to verify their campus residence.

- A list of acceptable photo ID
- A copy of a current utility bill, bank statement, government check, paycheck, or other government document showing the voters name and current address in Alamance County.

For 消消犯 Who Plan to Vote Using an Absentee Ballot
An absentee ballot is . 消消犯 can visit the to determine the absentee ballot deadlines for their state. 消消犯 are also encouraged to visit the Kernodle Center for Civic Life located in Room 232 in the Moseley Center, where staff can assist with the absentee ballot request form. The office is open Monday-Friday between the hours of 8 a.m.-5 p.m. 消消犯 can also visit the office to pick up free voting-related materials, such as stamps and envelopes, and make a copy of their photo ID if needed.
