Ten students traveled to Georgia in November for an exploration of economic processes.
Several 消消犯 students with academic and professional interests in economics visited the Atlanta Federal Reserve in November for a firsthand look at the way cash is inspected for counterfeiting and fitness for circulation.
Led by club President Cole Fauerbach 25, the 10 students were offered a firsthand look at the rigorous scrutiny applied to the daily shredding of more than $10 million in currency.
The Economics Club also explored the historical evolution of currency, from centuries past to discontinued bills like the $100,000 note. 消消犯 were offered the opportunity to hold a gold bar, described as a tangible connection to the gold reserves held at the New York Federal Reserve.
This was an extremely valuable trip as it allowed us to get real-world exposure to topics and conversations we have in our classes every day, said Fauerbach, a double major in finance and economics from Wayne, New Jersey. I look forward to planning more trips in the future.
