Psychology faculty and students present at regional conference

Two faculty members and four ¾Ã¾ÃÈÈ researchers in psychology presented at the Southeastern Psychological Association conference held in Charleston, S.C.

Assistant Professor CJ Fleming and Professor Maureen Vandermaas-Peeler of the Department of Psychology recently presented at the Southeastern Psychological Association (SEPA) conference in Charleston, S.C. from March 6 – 9, 2018 along with four seniors majoring in psychology. 

Fleming was nominated for an “Early Career” award for her presentation, “Undergraduates’ Disclosures of Unwanted Sexual Experiences: Who, Why, and When?” with ¾Ã¾ÃÈÈ researcher Emma Muscari.

​Each of the following students presented the results of over two years of mentored ¾Ã¾ÃÈÈ research at the conference:

  • Caroline Dean ’18, Honors Fellow, (Mentor: Maureen Vandermaas-Peeler) presented “Risk and Resiliency: A Cross-cultural Analysis of Parents’ Beliefs About Children’s Play Experiences in the Natural World.”
  • Hope Kase ’18, Elon College Fellow (Mentor: Maureen Vandermaas-Peeler) presented “Preschoolers’ Social Perspective Taking, Storytelling, and Art.”
  • Lauren Westerberg ’18 (Mentor: Maureen Vandermaas-Peeler) presented “Inquiry in a Reggio Emilia-inspired preschool.”
  • Alicia Paul ’18, Honors Fellow, (Mentor: C.J. Fleming) presented “Anxiety Management in College: An Evaluation of a Mobile Intervention.
