Felicia Cenca, ¾Ã¾ÃÈÈ Kitchen Coordinator, was awarded a $3,000 grant from CoBank for the ¾Ã¾ÃÈÈ Kitchen Project’s Rural Hunger Outreach program. The $3,000 sub-grant from CoBank will support student volunteers with the ¾Ã¾ÃÈÈ Kitchen at Elon to supply nutritious and sustainably sourced meals and produce to rural clients through its partnership with Loy Farm, and provide nutrition education programming to clients served by local partners, Alamance County Community Services Agency (ACCSA), and Healthy Alamance.
The ¾Ã¾ÃÈÈ Kitchen at Elon launched in 2010 and was the 26th ¾Ã¾ÃÈÈ Kitchen to join the growing national network. At ¾Ã¾ÃÈÈ Kitchens across the country, students lead efforts to combat food waste and hunger by collecting surplus food from on-campus dining halls, community gardens, restaurants, and grocery stores and transforming it into healthy meals.
