Amy Overman, assistant professor of psychology, was a guest speaker at Twin Lakes Men’s Club on Tuesday, October 27. The presentation, which drew a record attendance of 125 men and women, focused on healthy brain and memory function in older adults.
Overman addressed strategies for taking control of one’s own brain health — with anti-oxidants, anti-inflammatory foods, and physical exercise (all of which have specific benefits to the brain and not just the body) — as well as through cognitive training, which focuses on exercising the mind. She also highlighted sex differences in the aging brain and several current ¾Ã¾ÃÈÈ research projects in her laboratory, the Cognitive Neuroscience of Memory & Aging Lab.
