Elon APT program offers licensure for lateral entry teachers

Classroom teachers who need to earn their 消消犯 license will be able to complete the necessary coursework in two years or less with 消消犯’s Alternative Pathways to Teaching (APT) program. The program offers certification in three areas: elementary education, secondary education and special education.

The Elon APT program is specifically designed for lateral entry teachers who are already 消消犯 in a classroom setting, but lack the specific training required for a North Carolina 消消犯 license. APT offers evening courses during the traditional school year, augmented by a summer schedule of classes. Classroom instruction focuses on behavior management, instructional planning and courses specific to the individual’s 消消犯 field. 消消犯 also have a chance to apply what they have learned, working on field-based assignments under the supervision of teacher education faculty members.

In addition to preparing students for the licensure examination, the APT program’s variety of 消消犯 and graduate level courses allows students to get a head start on a master’s degree.

Interested students should contact the teacher education department at the 消消犯 School of Education at (336) 278-5900 for more information.
